What is this app all about?

This app aims to provide near-instantaneous alerts to road users about the conditions on the road. The alerts are triggered by:

fellow users
updates from LTA Traffic News web site

At the moment, fellow users can notify others about the presence of traffic policemen or about traffic congestion. Once a new alert is triggered by a user, a notification will be pushed to other users as well.

This FREE app is available from the Singapore App Store.

Hardware requirements

iPhone 2G/3G/3GS running iPhone OS 3.0 (to take advantage of Apple Push Notification)
iPod touch (1st and 2nd Generation) running iPhone OS 3.0
Internet connectivity. Please note that data will be retrieved through an Internet connection enabled through wi-fi or 3G/GPRS.

When will you receive a notification?

For iPhone users
If you turn on 3G/GPRS, you will receive notification when the phone is awake and asleep.
If you turn off 3G/GPRS, but turn on wi-fi, you will only receive notification when the phone is awake.
If 3G, GPRS and wi-fi are turned off, you will not receive any notification.
For iPod touch users
If you turn on wi-fi, you will receive notification only when the iPod touch is awake.
If the iPod touch is in sleep mode, you will not receive any notification at all.

Can the notification itself contain more useful data?

Unfortunately, no. As per Apple's guidelines, the notification is to notify you that new data is available, and that you may want to run the app to view it.

Can I turn on/off the audio alert?

By design, only traffic policemen and traffic jam alerts have audio. LTA alert is text only. If you want to turn off audio alert, go to the main iPhone/iPod Settings, Notifications page to select accordingly.

	You can selectivly decide the type of alert to receive. Please note that if you wish to disable iPhone OS Push Notification, you still need to use the main Settings app.	You either manually key in the location, or use your current GPS location based on Google Map

The traffic cop alert includes a siren audio alert as well.	The traffic jam alert has an audio alert.	LTA alert is a text alert.
